Ferrari had a huge success in the Gilles Villeneuve circuit over the years . There they won 10 of 34 races held so far . The first Canadian to own the legendary Gilles Villeneuve , then with Rene Arnoux in 1983 , Michele Alboreto in 1985 and then six times with Michael Schumacher .

However , nine years ago that Ferrari have not won the Gilles Villeneuve circuit , and unless some intervention of apocalyptic proportions , next Sunday will complete 10 long years .

After a bad start to the season , it was very strange to Maranello team not taking many upgrades for the Spanish Grand Prix , and a modified rear wing . The staff stated that in fact was preparing a major update , it would be obvious after Monaco for the GP of Canada .

The technical director James Allison explained to fans of Ferrari : " In Monaco we continue analyzing the areas where the F14 T can be improved and we are now looking for the next race in Canada, where the package is going to use a big step compared to car that ran last week . "

Would expect this to be the case because the F1 circus skips the slowest circuit on the calendar for one of the fastest in Montreal , which requires a completely different aerodynamic package .

However , Allison reveals he does not know how Ferrari will improve over the competition : " While our development program has progressed well in recent weeks , it is difficult to predict exactly what it will mean for the competitiveness of the F14 -T , since do not know how much competition will evolve in Montreal . Thus , any improvement must be seen in relative terms , in the hope that the track will deliver a response worthy of all the efforts we have made so far. "

If Ferrari really will bring profound changes , or just the low downforce package media modified as usual for this event , it is not clear from the comments of Allison .

Allison also reveals that restructuring within Ferrari is going well , but does not mention or give any credit for it to Marco Mattiacci : " Creativity and originality are really important parts of being competitive," he said . " However , there's nothing magical . If you want creativity in your car , need to plan and make room for staff to exercise their creativity " ( ? ) .

However , is not that the point ? Mattiacci - the master at organizing men and automotive corporations , not supposed to find the lost to unlock the latent potential of the Ferrari key?

He is the only one that was presented to the " personal leadership " by the Godfather himself , and is Mattiacci who should lead the men in red out of the desert .

Or is it that in Canada we will hear statements like " Marco is still learning about F1 " ?

It seems that increasingly Ferrari is groping in the dark , with no light at the end of the tunnel . A poor result in Canada - meaning fifth down - should deepen and make the current crisis one of the worst in the history of Maranello .
